This is some work I did for Find Polaris, a collaborative project with Chunlin Yang. We pitched it for the Sony Talent league and was one of the top 15 applicants. The story is about Peter, an Antarctic fallout shelter resident, who meets a woman named Lidia in a VR chat. After Lidia’s sudden disappearance Peter decides to exit out of the shelter and try to find her - the only clue Peter got from Lidia is to “Find Polaris”.
In this world everything is in shortage especially shelter space, the government has to arrange it properly to make sure everybody can survive the nuclear winter. People live like a caged hamster and only get things that are essential to their survival.
Each shelter cell (marketed as a ‘bachelor’s chamber’) is roughly 10-square-meters for a single person. The government will arrange for married couples to move into a bigger one so they can reproduce.
